Take Action: Businesses
-
Follow us!
Follow us on social media - via your business and personal accounts - and share our content with your networks!
-
Learn more.
Learn more about paid leave. Share with friends and family. Share information with neighbors and other business leaders. Talk to your dog about it. Ask them to share with their networks as well!
-
Contact your legislator.
You can ask them to meet with you and your leadership team, call, email, or send a letter via carrier pigeon! Whether you think your legislator is on board or would NEVER support paid leave, they still need to hear from you! Check out the Maine Women’s Lobby Take Action Toolkit here. You can also check our Facebook page where we host letter to the editor and story writing workshops regularly.
-
Share your story.
Take a look at our story archive featuring Mainers who have been impacted by access to paid leave or lack thereof. Want to join the conversation? We’d love to have your voice - business leaders’ voices in this conversation are critical! Share your story with us via our story sharing form or by emailing us.
-
Share what is possible.
What would be possible for you or your employees if paid leave was a reality in Maine? Would you have less turnover? Would you yourself be able to take care of a sick family member and still support your family? Tell us what would be possible! This isn’t just about what was or would have been helpful for folks - it’s about what is possible when we finally pass paid leave for Mainers!
-
Host an event.
We love a good community event at the local library or a happy hour where people are talking about policies that will help people. Whether you want to host one of our coalition members to get your fellow community members and business leaders pumped about paid leave or you want to crank out some letters to legislators, we can help! Email us to get started!
-
Host us to provide an info session for your staff.
We know that there are a lot of questions about paid leave and we are happy to be a resource for you and your staff. Formal or informal - we’re here to help. Just send us an email and we can get something on the calendar.
-
Write letters to the editor.
Your community needs to hear from business leaders like you that you support paid leave for Mainers. You can write a letter and send it to your local newspaper now or when we need a push to get this policy over the finish line. If you want to wait to publish it, you can write it now and look at that - you’re prepared to send it in when we let you know the timing is right! Be sure to check your local paper’s policies about writing letters to the editor.
-
Become a community leader.
We are moving this forward in a big way here in Maine - and we need your help! For more information about being a community leader as a business or in your personal life, send us an email!

Bring our material to expos and conferences.
Do you go to expos or conferences where you have an exhibit or table set up? Add some of our pro paid leave materials to your table! We’d be happy to send you swag to hand out!
